In that same spirit of Henri, Steven Kenny’s Art Show at the Middle Street Gallery, ‘Flying Lessons’, reflect those very sign-posts of a souls intimate relationship with nature and the gifts she bestows. Living almost 10 years in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia has brought this artist a wealth of treasures and a laboratory to ply his art.
His paintings have been defined as surreal yet for nature lovers, a deep realism exists. One cannot but help connect laying upon a mossy floor in the woods with toadstools and a small owl in “Earthbom”, or standing among waterfalls as in “Water Shawl” and hiving with the Queen in the “Beelady”.
“My paintings serve as a reminder to myself, and perhaps to others, that all life on Earth is but a single organism,” said Kenny of his work.
