Rosanne Williamson, principal of Brumfield Elementary School, has been named director of Mountain Vista Governor’s School, the commonwealth’s newest academic-year governor’s school. Mountain Vista will serve students in the school divisions of Fauquier, Culpeper, Rappahannock, Warren, Frederick, Clarke and Winchester City. Williamson will assume directorship on July 1; the school, located at Lord Fairfax Community College (Fauquier campus and Middletown campus), is scheduled to open in August 2006.
She is excited about her new role as governor’s school director, she said. “Though I am sad to leave Brumfield’s wonderful students and teachers, the prospect of beginning a new regional governor’s school is an exciting opportunity. I believe this unique school will meet the needs of gifted high school students in our area, providing them with opportunities and experiences to grow into tomorrow’s leaders,” Williamson said.
