I understand that the potential

need for a town sewage treatment system was initially identified 25 years ago. The severity of the problem has become more and more evident with each day's passing. We now have an environmental/health issue here in the Tbwn of Washington that the Town Council has had to take steps to address. I commend them and their efforts to defuse the failing-septic-field time bomb t hat is under this town f and at ground level in some places), a problem that is and will continue to affect everyone in the county - along the Rush River and otherwise - if left unresolved.

Without the strong-minded environmentalists on the Town Council, the septic problems could and would make town and county residents sick, as those who now cannot use their own yards because of raw sewage can already attest. We as a town have an obligation, not only to ourselves but to the
