A preliminary hearing for longtime Rappahannock County resident and community activist Hunt Harris, who has been accused of armed robbery, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today in Spotsylvania County.
According to Harris’s Web site, Spotsylvania authorities have dropped the charges against him. If that turns out to be true, today’s preliminary hearing will likely be a quick formality.
Harris wrote on his site late last week that the case has been declared nolle proseque, which is a formal entry by a plaintiff or prosecuting officer that means htf or she will not prosecute the case further.
“Essentially, they are dropping the charges, and there will be no restraints on my person, and the bond is withdrawn,” Harris wrote.
Representatives of the Spotsylvania County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office did not respond to calls regarding the case’s status.
Harris said he has no prior criminal convictions or accusations against him, and all along has maintained his innocence in the armed robbery case.
