Love pointed out that “there may be some benefit from the warmer weather: for the cattle people. After all, the grazing season is extended.”
One drawback to that, Lee said, is that the early-season grass doesn’t provide cows with enough energy, and he has had to give magnesium supplements to his 400 head of cattle.
During a normal winter, Lee said, cows would be eating hay, which is higher in nutrition. But cattle simply are not interested in hay when they have got green grass at their feet.
