One of Mellos favorite events was the Nightcap Party. Each year, Mello explained, is sponsored by one of the four Swedish schools. This year was hosted by the school of economics. “For them, it is like hosting the Olympics,” Mello said, “The youth there took great pride in hosting the party that they had planned for four years.” He said that there were four floors in the building with different food, music, and decoration in each room. “It was the best party that I’ve ever been to,” chuckled Mello adding jokingly, “and I went to UVA.”

The family finally went back to their hotels at 5 am. in order to pack and leave for the airport at 7 a.m. “There were a lot of tired Mellos on the way back from Sweden,” Mello said with a laugh. In spite of all the glamor, Mello said he was glad to return home. “It was beautiful, ancient, historic and exciting, but it won’t beat the natural beauty of Rappahannock County,” admitted Mello.

“It was a great opportunity to step into that world for a while and then step out.”
