break. Friends called their vets to try and get more answers. My clients and business colleagues were, overall, wonderfully understanding of these new and sudden demands on my life. The hard part, of course, is allowing yourself to lean on these people. Our culture admires independence and self-reliance and I’ve heen known to push those to the point of stupidity! This kind of event helps teach lessons in sharing our burdens.
Mercy is a wonderful quality and I admit to being lacking in it more than I should. I am often hard on people who don’t live up to my expectations. But I frequently haven’t lived up to people’s expectations in the last month and have been blessed by their mercy, forgiveness and understanding. I hope fervently to do a better job of passing those along knowing that each of us encounter difficult circumstances somewhere along the way.
