Abner Konick, aged 89 years, 7 months and 12 days, died Friday, January 12, 2007 after a brief illness.
He was a retired ladies garment manufacturer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Lewes, Delaware until 1969 and a sport fishing captain on the “Capri” out of Palm Beach after moving to Florida in 1969. He was the son of Joseph Konick, a Russian immigrant who came to the United States in 1907 from Novgorod, Russia, and Josephine Barcus Konick, a native of Philadelphia.
He was bom in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 31, 1917, and was a 1934 graduate of Simon Gratz High School. During World War II, he served in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a past president of the Rotary International Club of Lewes, Delaware and a third degree mason.
His wife of forty-three years, Mary Konick, predeceased him in 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; a son, Howard, of County Galway, Ireland, and a son, David, of Rappahannock County, Virginia, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Royal Poinciana Park in Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday, January 20 at 11 a.m. following which his ashes will be buried at sea.

William P. Young
William Packard Young, 78, passed away peacefully January 12 at his home in Naples, Florida. Bom in Tbwanda, Pa., to Kenneth & Adeline Young, he graduated from Towanda High School and Mansfield University where he was very active in sports. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
After beginning his career in elementary and special education, Young retired as Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Arlington County, Va., where he pioneered nationally recognized programs in continuing and career education.
