WSA members reported on Monday that the county’s application for block grant funds has received support from Raymond R. “Andy” Guest, Rappahannock's representative in Virginia’s House of Delegates.
On October 6, Dennis said, he wrote both Guest and State Senator Nathan Miller, seeking endorsement of the county’s block grant application. Guest responded immediately with a letter dated October 8 to Gene Dishner of the Department of Housing and Community Development, the agency evaluating the block grant proposals. In the letter, a copy of which was forwarded to the WSA. Guest points out "the serious nature of (Sperryville’s) water pollution hazards and notes that the State Water Control Board has awarded a construction grant for partial funding of the village's sewer project which is contingent upon a similar award of a Community Improvement Block Grant.
