Earlier this year, Davis made much of a Trible campaign memorandum that charged that Davis staffers went to a meeting of union officials in New York City in August and solicited financial support. The memo alleged that Davis representatives asked the unions to contribute after the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) deadline at the end of September, the last filing deadline before election day. The memo was based on what Trible has called a “reliable source,” whom Trible has refused to disclose.
