Davis has also made much of his own military record. He served in World War II and Korea, but Trible was rejected for military service because he could not straighten his right arm. Trible has said the cause of the problem is either congenital, or the result of a broken arm as a child.
“You’ll have to ask him what he's trying to imply” by focusing on his military record, Trible said of Davis.
Trible has also fought back on Davis' charges that he had a 75.95 voting percentage this year in the House. Trible said in an interview that he has cast over 4,000 votes in his six years in the House and has responded to over 90 percent of the roll call votes.
But according to Trible, the election will be won or lost not on military background, the memorandum or his voting record, but on economic issues and others. "1 regret my opponent has tried to avoid the issues, and with some success," Trible said.
One of his own highest priorities, Trible said, is in creating jobs in Virginia. He said he has brought more than 14,000 jobs to Newport News and Hampton, the two largest cities in his district, while the city of Portsmouth lost 3,600 jobs when Davis was mayor there from 197480.
