The Scary Thing
1st Prize Winner - Grades One and Two
Sherratt Treese, Grade 2
Wakefield School
One dark, rainy night Mr. Gum woke up in the middle of the night because he heard a noise like “reeeeeeeck." He looked out his window. He saw nothing for a minute but then the lightning struck and he saw a scary looking thing. It had fangs and blood but Mr. Gum shut the window and went back to bed.
He heard foot steps walking down the hall but before he heard any more he fell asleep. In the morning he woke up and he saw Mrs. Gum. She was all bloody and he cried most of the day. The other part of the day he thought about her.
In the night he was looking out of the window. While he was looking out Mrs. Gum came up and killed him, because she was a vampire.
During the night Mrs. Gum went to a haunted house. When she opened the door she saw that scary looking thing. He invited her and they sat down and had a cup of blood. They lived together for a month until a big strong man came and killed them both.
Everybody was so happy they cried. Everybody gave the strong man presents. They knew about the scary looking thing and the vampire because they saw it in the newspaper. Everybody lived happily ever after.
