The Rappahannock Department of Social Services will begin taking aftplications for the fuel assistance program beginning November 1.
This program is not intended to cover an annual fuel need or the fuel need during the heating season. It is only designed to assist households in their fuel needs.
Households applying for the program will need to verify income with wage stubs, award letters if they receive social security, wage records if they are selfemployed or pay stubs if they are seasonal workers.
Maximum income limits for Rappahannock, classified as a rural area, are $5,850 for one person, $12,366 for four persons.

Sen. John Warner this week introduced a bill imposing a duty on apple and pear juice imported from countries which subsidize apple production.
“Over the past six years, the quantity of apple juice imported to the United States has nearly doubled. In 1981 the equivalent of 10.67 million bushels of apples — almost the total apple production for Virginia — was imported as apple juice concentrate," Warner ^aid.
Currently, apple and pear juice imported from countries not enjoying “Most Favored Trade” status are subject to a duty. Further, apple and pear are the only juices imported duty free.

(Continued from Page 1) project’s service area fall into the low and moderate income bracket, Guest maintains in his letter to Dishner that “the economics of the matter are quite frankly that these low to moderate income families possibly would not be able to affort the user fees unless the project is up-supported by the two grants.” Guest also points out that the sewer project has been in the planning stages since 1974 when the extent of the pollution problem arising from malfunctioning septic fields was first documented. “The problem is increasing in scope rather than diminishing,” he concludes, giving Rappahannock’s block grant application his full endorsement "witnout hesitation or qualification.”
In other business, the WSA rescheduled its next monthly meeting for Tuesday, November 9 to coincide with the expected announcement of block grant awards. “We may have to do something in a hurry if the block grant has been announced by then,” Dennis said. If the grants haven’t been awarded by that time, the meeting will be postponed.
Also on Monday, the WSA members vcted 4-0 with James Leake abstaining to forward the latest bill from engineers for the Sperryville project on to the supervisors for payment.
