A number of factors will be used in determining a household’s fuel needs including geographic location, number of persons, total income and energy source. Under most circumstances, only one application will be needed for the program this year. Once a household is determined eligible, it is provided with a notice that shows the maximum fuel assistance it can receive.
Fuel bills are submitted to the local welfare agency until the total amount of the household’s fuel benefit has been used or the heating season is over. In most cases.
