Swindler also inquired if the new owners planned to upgrade the existing internal roads to ensure adequate fire and rescue access.
"The roads are in pretty good shape now...but we do plan to grade and gravel." responded Bayne.
Noting that the retreat center w ill place an increased demand on Rappahannock’s fire and rescue volunteers, Peter Kramer asked if Bethany House would consider making a donation to support those emergency services.
"Oh yes! Absolutely,” Bayne assured the BZA.
With no one to speak either for or against the retreat center’s application for a special use permit (as a church in an agricultural zone), the board members voted unanimous approval, contingent upon compliance with Health Department requirements and submission of a development plan to the Rappahannock Planning Commission.
