Semantics Lost Grant*
“We have a health hazard in Sperryville,” noted Water and Sewer Authority secretary ' Bob Dennis in a telephone interview this week. “Sperryville’s health hazard is one of the most well recognized, well documented in the state of Virginia.”
Failure of the county's block grant application to win funding in the first cycle was the result of a "semantics problem,” Dennis maintained. He likewise said that a letter from the state health commissioner attesting to conditions in the village—either as an “imminent health threat" or a "health hazard"—can be expected to support a second funding application.
