Navy, Deputy Chief of Naval Material and Organization since 1964, retired after 28 years of active duty. During ceremonies at Naval Material Command Headquarters in Washington. D.C., the Amissville resident was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal "for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service."
Captain Keim's first duty assignment after graduation from the Naval Academy in 1939 was to the aircraft carrier Enterprise. During this duty tour. Captain Keim participated in the Gilbert and Marshall Islands raids, attacks at Wake and Marcus Islands, and in the launching of General James A. Doolittle's planes for the reknowned Tokoyo raid.
Work was progressing at the new Rappahannock County Library. The old pine flooring was removed after termite damage to support beams was discovered.
