The improvement in Rappahannock over September’s unemployment level is attributable to a decrease in both the number of people out of work and the total labor force. According to the VEC bulletins, the county’s labor force numbeccd,»2.602 in September and 2,544 in October while the number of idle workers dropped from 2% to 208 during the same period. The number of people employed climbed from 2,306 in September to 2,336 in October.
Rappahannock was the only jurisdiction served by the Culpeper VEC office to show an increase in the number of employed persons in the labor force in October.
According to the VEC bulletin, the consumer price index for all urban consumers was 294.1 for October, up .3 over September and 5.1 for the year.
