On Thursday, December 10th, Wakefield students attended a concert in Washington. D.C.. at the Kennedy Center. They heard “the National Symphony perform a delightful program called "A Musical Passport”. The program began in Russia with Tchaikovsky's “Trepak" from "The Nutcracker" Suite. It then went to France with Offenbach’s “Can Can" from the Overture to "Orpheus and the Underworld" with a colorful slide presentation of Parisian scenes. This was a contrast to Debussy’s "Jeux de vagues from “La Mer” and scenes of the coasts of France. The tour through Italy included Verdi’s "Prelude to Act I
