In a meeting interrupted by frequent warnings by Wakefield member Robert Eastham on the disastrous state of the county’s finances, the Rappahannock School Board voted to allow the Health Department to operate a dental trailer on school property but refused to assume any of the operation expenses.
Dr. John Einarson, Rappahannock County Health Department Director, asked the board for permission to locate the trailer at the Elementary School and requested assistance with water and electrical hookups.
Einarson was accompanied by Drs. Hughes and Savaris, public health dentists in Einarson’s district. Dr. Hughes, the dentist assigned to Rappahannock, estimated that 85% to 90% of his time was devoted to dental work on school children, who presently are transported to the health department in Washington.
