Despite reminders that most of the dental programs clients were school children, members maintained that dental care was a health, rather than a school-related problem. The^ were reluctant to accept Einarson’s assurance that the schools would not be liable for any malpractice charges.
“This is a little out of outline of duty,” said Nelson Lane. Lane also was reluctant to have the school board appear to endorse any dentist. “You never know who you might offend,” he said.
Hughes responded that he was a salried employee of the United States PublicHealth Service and not in competition with any private dentist.
“I’m all for health for poor people, but not on school property,” said Robert Eastham.
