Marilyn’s husband, an industrial electrician for 40 years, was laid off his job. “He was nearly 62 years old. He couldn’t start out in a new field. He’d have lost the retirement he’d built up. And with the economy in the shape it’s in, there just weren’t any jobs for electricians,” Marilyn said.
Taking Stock
“We were trying to stay glued together so I looked around and tried to figure out what saleable talents I had,” she continued. She had only to look as far as the charming little dresses she’d designed over the years for her daughter and grandchild.
