The county’s renovated jail will be equipped by January 1 with new mattresses, sheets and pillow cases, a television in the day room and a basketball court in the exercise yard but it may lack staff to operate the facility.
“Will the furnishings be here by the time the jail is operational?” asked Supervisor Charles “Pete” Estes at Monday’s board meeting.
“Well, I think we can have it in time but we might run into problems with personnel,” replied Sheriff W. A. Buntin. “The State Compensation Board and the Department of Corrections keep changing the number we can have.”
