mantle or wall are the baskets Drevas weaves with white oak splits around vines she gathers from the forests that surround her hilltop home. More flowing sculpture than any other art or craft form, the baskets have been accepted for exhibit at Baltimore’s Winter Mart, one of the East Coast’s most prestigious arts and crafts show. Drevas’ non-utilitarian baskets are available at Nol Putnam’s and Claudia McQue’s White Oak Forge at The Plains in neighboring Fauquier County.
The fires in Eric Kvarnes’ studio in Oid Brown Hollow haven't been lit very often this year. Eric’s family was struck by tragedy this fall as first his mother and then his father died after long illnesses.
This Christmas, the remaining pieces of his work—-handblown bowls, vases, paper weights and glass seupture in vivid blue, delicate rose and a rainbow of greens—are displayed at Rush River and Middle Street Gallery in Washington.
