who now assists her boss with wreath-making demonstrations at local colleges and for area garden clubs and other groups.
The arrangers have also mastered the skills of drying flowers and herbs. “We picked some of them to dry out of our garden,” reported Mazie.
“Everything is ‘our’ here!” laughed her daughter. “We mean the garden out back behind the shop.”
Using flowers and herbs picked from the hillside behind Faith Mountain and supplemental supplies from other local sources, the ladies turn the dried blooms and plants into a wide range of bright, one-of-arkind, sweet smelling and eye pleasing gifts.. They take shape in minutes as the artists weave stems and stalks back and forth. “We had wreaths lined up clear across the room,” noted Mazie in response to a compliment on her skill. “They’re taken out as fast as we can make them.”
And the flow of all this business is kept under tab on the computer upstairs by Mazie’s granddaughter and Charlotte’s daughter, Rhonda Jenkins. After Woodard bought the computer, “a company programmer showed me how to use it. Now I’m on my third computer course at Lord Fairfax,” Rhonda said.
