“I’d be reluctant to let you or Carson (Johnson) go. You all have such good experience with this project,” responded Supervisor chairman J. R. Latham.
“My capabilities may have been more helpful in the phase up to now’ than they’ll be in the future,” said Dennis, a former member in Fairfax County of the Upper Occoquan Sewer Authority. He added that he would continue to serve on Rappahannock’s authority if the board of supervisors wished but wanted it known that he wouldn’t be offended if replaced.
“I spoke with Col. White yesterday,” noted Johnson, WSA chairman. “He said if the board felt he could assist the county, he would be willing to accept appointment.”
White, a former member of the Army’s Corps of Engineers, has “a lot of direct experience in water engineering,” said Dennis.
Wasting no time, supervisor Charles Estes, whose Piedmont District includes the village of Sperryville, nominated White. With a second from Supervisor Hubert Gilkey, the retired engineer was unanimously appointed to the WSA.
