Rappahannock’s junior varsity basketball team fell to the Page Panthers in a one-sided contest last Friday, 52-33.
Coach Greg Waters blamed the loss in the season opening away game to nonexistent defense on Rappahannock’s part and super effort by Page’s Center, Dodson, who dominated the boards and poured in bucket after bucket.
Both teams began with full court presses. Rapp’s Chucky Jenkins scored first for w hat proved to be about the only RCHS lead of the night. The Rappahannock squad dug its own grave falling into early foul trouble and putting Page in the bonus one-and-one situation at the free throw line with 2:41 left in the first quarter. Page led at the end of the first period, 14-12, and it w as all downhill from there for RCHS.
