The set included a freestanding chimney with vines climbing it that stood by itself on the darkened stage to show the ruins where the mountain people’s homes had been destroyed—by disasters, government projects or the passage of time. But when the chimney was spun around its seemingly real fire showed the warmth of the homes inhabited by the characters. A few trunks full of props and clothes offered what would be needed
