At either end of Main Street as it stretches to the outskirts of town sit Washington’s two old fashioned mercantile stores. Santa Claus will visit the Washington Cash Store next Saturday, December 17, and in preparation for his visit, Skippy Giles will have his special selection of Christmas candy ready. Seafood lovers can also place orders now for fresh, plump oysters that will arrive just ahead of Saint Nick’s return visit on Christmas Eve. The Cash Store also offers a selection of fine gifts tools, quality work clothes and other practical gifts.
At the other end of Main Street approaching the highway, Clarence Baldwin's Grocery will offer its usual selection of good country cheeses, fresh fruit and lots of candy for stocking stuffers.
