Veterans Day, or Armistice Day, which has been returned to its traditional Nov. 11 date after years of being observed on the second Monday in November, is a federal legal holiday.
Locally, Rappahannock County government offices will be closed all day, as will the county’s department of welfare and social services.
The Rappahannock National Bank in Washington and the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Flint Hill are closed.
The Rappahannock County Library will be closed.
Federal post offices are also closed Monday.
The news and business offices of the Rappahannock News, however, will observe normal business hours Monday.
The news deadline is noon Tuesday, as is the deadline for local display and classified advertising.
Advertising for the horse and farm directory is noon on Monday, as is the deadline for combo real estate advertising.
