In-vitro clinic using eggs
NORFOLK — An in-vitro fertilization clinic has become the first in the nation to use eggs donated by female patients to make pregnancy possible for women who cannot produce their own eggs, doctors here say.
Doctors with the Howard and Georgeanna Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine said two women had become pregnant through the new method. In interviews with the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot published Sunday, they declined to discuss whether births had occurred or were expected.
Clinic physicians said they have been using the technique for about a year but hid it until they were certain the technique would be successful and to protect the anonymity of the patients.
‘Dead’ fans crash gates
RICHMOND — Several thousand fans of the Grateful Dead rock group rushed the Richmond Coliseum trying to get into the sold-out concert, smashing a window and overwhelming police.
