“We all just kind of grinned and beared it,” Rustic said. “It was togetherness.”
But it wasn’t a confirmed success until they were home.
At one point, water from the raging river poured into the cab and “doused” the driver, Rustic said.
“I thought we’d lose the truck at one point,” Rustic said.
“I knew that was my last chance,” she added. “If I couldn’t get back in the tanker truck, I would have had to do something else” to find overnight accommodations.

Mature driving
class planned
A 55/Alive mature driving instruction class, sponsored by Liberty Savings Bank and AARP Chapter 493, will be conducted in two half-day sessions Nov. 25 and 26 from 9 to 1 in the fireside room of the Warrenton Baptist Church.
The course teaches preventive measures to use when driving to save lives and offers an opportunity to learn how to handle adverse driving conditions and traffic hazards, as well as the effects of aging and medication on driving.
The class is for persons 50 and older and costs $7 per person. Liberty Savings Bank will pay the fee for anyone 50 or older who has an account there.
