On Saturday, the students will er\joy a horse-drawn carriage tour conducted by guides in Confederate uniforms. Following the tour, the group will depart by boat to Fort Sumter where the War Between the States began and the longest seige in warfare endured. The harbor tour will include views of the U.S. Coast Guard Base, Forts Johnson and Moultrie, The U.S.S. Yorktown and beautiful St. Michael’s Church, founded in 1752.
On Sunday, after a buffet breakfast, the tour will return to Alexandria via train. The students will be accompanied by Headmaster William E. Lynn and his wife, Pamela, both of whom are history teachers at Wakefield and as such will be able to provide added insight to the field trip.
