The sixth and seventh grades from Wakefield School will be traveling to Charleston, S.C. today for a four day trip. Charleston is the largest intact colonial city in the United States and as such will be an exciting host city for this informative school trip.
The students will depart from Alexandria tonight by train, arriving in Charleston in the early hours on Friday. Highlights of Friday’s scheduled itinerary include a guided walking tour of pre-Civil War Charleston and its elegant churches, Dock Street theater, Cabbage Row of Porgy and Bess fame and the Slave Market. In the evening, the group will visit the Boone Hall Plantation that was the setting for the filming of Gone with the Wind.
