mer newsman, Kilpatrick learned photography while working as a reporter and later carried his love of the graphic image over to the pages of newspapers as editor. The Virginia Press Association has awarded him several times for his photography and for page design that emphasizes photographs.
Since leaving the newspaper industry to spend more time with his family, Kilpatrick has turned to commercial photography. He most recently exhibited his work in the RAAC show in Sperryville last month.
His eye is especially sensitive to form and texture, and his pictures of the American west show National Parks from a different point of view.
