In other action at Monday’s meeting, the supervisors:
-voted to buy its workmans’ compensation insurance through the Virginia Municipal League. The board was told that Clements Insurance Agency in Culpeper notified the county that it no longer wished to carry the policy.
-will investigate a bid from a Winchester pest exterminator before awarding a contract at their December meeting.
-noted the resignation of Clifford Miller from the Water and Sewer Authority.
-renominated T.B. Williams to the welfare board.
-noted the resignation of Beth Stout, extension homemaker.'
-endorsed Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day as presented in a resolution signed by Virginia Gov. Charles S. Robb.
—agreed to enter a proxy vote against a plan to reorganize the Virginia Association of Counties which would place Rappahannock with Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Stafford and King George, and removing a practice of permitting each county one vote. A current proposal seeks to issue one vote for every 50,000 persons within a locality. “I think we’re going to find an increasingly shrinking shoe,” Supervisor Nelson Lane said.
-Supervisor Clarence Baldwin was absent from the Nov. 4 meeting.
