Massies
receive award
On Oct. 24, at a banquet held at Graves Mountain Lodge near Syria, the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District presented an outstanding conservation award to a recipient from each of the five counties in the district.
Honored from Rappahannock County were Wade H. and Michael Massie. The Massies own and operate Hampton Stock Farm near Washington.
Poetry Society
calls for entries
The Poetry Society of Virginia announces its annual poetry contest which offers prizes for work entered in 11 catagories.
Categories include the sonnet, the lyric, free verse, traditional verse, the dramatic poem, a humorous poem, a limerick and a poem on the sea. The limit is one entry per person in each category, with the exception that secondary school students may submit up to three entries for the category open to them. Prizes range from $25 to $100.
A Jan. 31, 1986 deadline for entries has been set. Winners will be announced at an awards luncheon at the University of Virginia on March 15, 1986.
