Draft horse and mule show

Plowing, log skidding, and obstacle driving are just some of the events which are featured at the Blue Ridge Draft Horse and Mule Show to be held July 26 at Ferrum College in Ferrum. More than 100 competitors will take part in the scheduled events which begin at 10 a.m. and run through 5 p.m. Also featured are craft demonstrations and sales, traditional music, and a buggy, cart, and wagon parade.

Ex-smokers support group

Lung Association Stop Smoking Clinic participants, graduates and other former smokers are invited to attend an ex-smokers support group meeting on Thursday, August 7, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Pender United Methodist Church, 12500 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, Fairfax. Bluemont concert scries to present

Celtic Thunder

Celtic Thunder, a quartet offering Irish traditional music, will appear at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, as the third of the Bluemont Concert Series being held on Culpeper’s Courthouse Lawn, Peter H. Dunning, Bluemont’s founder and director, has announced.

Families are encouraged to bring a blanket or folding chairs and a picnic if they like. In event of rain, the concerts will be held indoors at a location to be announced. During the afternoon on Sunday, as part of Bluemont’s outreach program, Celtic Thunder will perform for shutins.
