Preschoolers will have an opportunity to “catch a tale and read” this summer at the Rappahannock County Library. Community volunteers will conduct story hour each Wednesday at 10 a.m. from July 16 to August 6. Interested children ages two to five may register at the library. This summer’s volunteers are Cindy Dodson, Liz Blubaugh, Christine Sims and Kay Robertson.
Story hour is a fun time where children listen to the reading of books, participate in learning games, make things, and socialize. Assistant librarian Cindy Dodson recalled an interesting story hour. “The children were read several stories about Eskimos, Then the volunteer had made an igloo herself out of sugar cubes and had put little people inside beside a fire. They all got to look inside to get the feel of what it was really like. They usually do something that pertains to the story that they read.”
