The Rappahannock Library has 3,000 children’s books available; however, Miss Dodson has selected 8-10 books of various levels from each category and has them labeled for easy accessibility. Children are not restricted to these books but they are available for those interested. The children like getting stickers but the greatest motivational factor in the program is the child’s great desire to read. “Kids love to read and they enjoy being involved in something during the summer,” Miss Dodson noticed.
Children themselves reinforced this belief.
Lea Blubaugh likes to read real life and giggle books most. “I get bored at home and so I read.”
Second grader Kathryn Beatty enjoys adventure stories because “things seem to happen quickly. I’m reading The Adventures of Babar this week. I know a lot of words so I guess that’s why I like to read so much. My mom saw the sign-up sheet in the library and she asked
