The Rappahannock Polo club of Amissville lost a hard fought game last Friday to the Pimm’s team of Potomac, Md. in the opening round of the President’s Cup tournament held at Phipp’s Field in Middleburg.
Rappahannock lost the close game on a loose ball that Chip Limehouse of Pimm’s took advantage of to drive over the goal line to end the sudden death overtime.
“It’s always tough to loose a close game, even if it was a good game,” commented Bill Fannon, first position player on the Rappahannock team.
In addition to Fannon, playing for Rappahannock were 3 goaler Phillip Staples of Richmond, Herman Noguera, a 1-goaler from Santiago, Chile, and Daniel Fernandez, a 3-goaler from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Playing for the Pimm’s Team were Ami Shinitzy, a 2-goaler and editor of Equus and Polo Magazines, Marcello Cassette, a rated 5-goaler from Argentina; 1 goaler Chip Limehouse of the South Carolina Limehouse polo family, and Julio d’Angelo, an Unrated player from Argentina, who currently resides in the U.S.
