Librarian Grace Sims said that the story hour was back this year by popular demand. “I feel the children benefit greatly, especially those who don’t attend a preschool. I can notice a greater awareness of listening skills in each session,” Mrs. Sims observed.
Story hour serves a twofold purpose. It keeps the children interested in books and gives children and adults an incentive to come to the library.
This year story hour is in conjunction with the summer reading program offered June 16-August 15. The theme is “catch a tale and read.” Sixty-one area children are registered in the program this summer. Each child has a folder on file at the library which contains a poster with space provided on the back to record
