Rappahannock dominated the first three chukkers and went into halftime leading 4 to 2. Luck seemed to be on Rappahannock’s side as they were awarded several penalty shots, two of which resulted in goals for Mr. Fernandez.
The fast and furious playing continued with no normal half-time break as a large thunder storm came up and threatened to cancell the remainder of the game. All players agreed to continue playing, even in the rain, which turned out to be only a brief shower.
“The field played well, even in the rain,” commented Mr. Stables, the number four man on the Rappahannock squad. “The horses didn’t even slip (on the field) in the rain,” he continued.
But the shower seemed to put a damper on the lead opened up by Rappahannock in the first half as Pimm’s began to tighten up its game.
