tests and marches against the masters of war. This was Bob Dylan, wirey, muscular and tanned, in black leather pants and bright red top tied with tiny spaghetti straps over the shoulders. This was the Bob Dylan of the electric guitar who inspired dance steps.

Joined by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, he set the crowd rocking. We turned into teenagers, singing, dancing, cheering and clapping to old favorites — Just like a WonJan, Baby Blue, Knockin' on Heaven's Door and Blounn’ in the Wind. Eyes squeezed shut to hold back ' tears as the goosebumps popped up on the arms of sentimental old timers. Forgotten were the heat and the strangers bumping on all sides. I hadn’t missed Woodstock after all.

Two and a half hours later, Dylan and Petty took their final bows. Only then did we notice sore feet, aching legs and dripping sweat. We felt like we’d just marched across the Sahara. But we were still grinning.
