After five hours of testimony at a special evidentiary hearing last Wednesday, Rappahannock’s Board of Zoning Appeals found that orchardist Alex Sharp had violated conditions attached to his 1984 special use permit for migrant worker housing and warned that if violations continued, the permit would be revoked.
Mr. Sharp promised he would abide by the regulations, which limit him to 10 seasonal workers housed at the camp on Mountain Green Farm near Washington. According to the BZA’s reading of permit conditions, the migrant laborers may be there for just four months, August through November, the picking season.
