The presentation is part of a RCEA and Virginia Education Association effort to encourage greater student effort, to involve more parents in their children’s school work, and to raise the awareness of the citizens of the Commonwealth about the importance of improved education for the future of Virginia.
“The children now in our classrooms,” said RCEA president Lvnne Baines, “are Virginia’s 21st century. They, more than we, will determine Virginia’s quality of life and standard of living in that century. It will be too late in 2001 to go back and say we wish we’d made them more capable and Virginia more competitive in educational opportunities.”
The three photographs presented by the association were commissioned by the VEA from noted Virginia-born and educated photographer Robert Llewellyn, whose work has received awards from the New York Art Directors Club, Communication Arts and Art Direction magazines.
