The week of November 17-21 is National Education Week, and in recognition of the event, the Rappahannock County Education Association presented to the county schools’ administrators three sets of photographs of three of Virginia’s most famous locations: Mount Vernon, Monticello and Colonial Williamsburg.
In addition to the beauty of the subjects themselves, each photograph also contains a quotation from a famous Virginian which underscores the value of education. “It is while we are young that the habit of industry is formed,” Thomas Jefferson reminded his daughter. “If not then, it never is afterwards. The fortune of our lives therefore depends on employing well the short period of vouth.”
