Grohs later returned to the housi because, he testified, he was con cemed that the elderly woman mai have become ill because of the frigh she had received. At Mrs. Comp ton’s request, Grohs drove her t< her niece’s house in Jeffersonton.
While they were gone, his com panions returned and burglarizec the house a second time, successfully making off with numerous valuables. Grohs testified that he had no knowledge that his friends were planning to reenter the house. He also latei confessed to his involvement in the crime and assisted the Sheriffs Department and Trooper H. A. Newlin of the State Police in the investigation of the case.
It was this cooperation which Judge Robertson alluded to in suspending the bulk of the sentences.
