Bradford
Marvin Russell Bradford Jr., 68, of Flint Hill, died November 8 at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville.
Mr. Bradford was born November 22, 1917, in Flint Hill, the son of the late Marvin R. Bradford Sr. and Elizabeth Corder Bradford.
He owned and operated Bradford’s Store in Flint Hill for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Flint Hill United Methodist Church and secretary of the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife Frances Eastham Bradford, a son Marvin R. Bradford III of Knoxville, Tenn., a daughter Virginia Bradford Hudgens of Lufkin, Texas, and three granddaughters.
A funeral service was conducted November 11 at the Flint Hill United Methodist Churqh by the Rev. Merlin W. Shorb. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Emory Russell, Lynn Atkins, Frank Huff, M. H. Brady, J. W. Fletcher Jr., J. W. Fletcher III, Elmer Atkins and Jack Curtis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Flint Hill United Methodist Church, Flint Hill 22627.
John Durant Jr.
John Griffin Durant Jr., 83, died November 2 at his home in Hollywood, Fla., where he had lived for many years. He was a native of Culpeper County.
He is survived by his wife Virginia R. Durant of Hollywood, Fla., a son John Lee Durant of Boston, a stepson James R. Durant of Minneapolis, Minn., a brother Oliver Durant II of The Hill, Boston, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service was held in Hollywood, Fla., on November 3, with private interment in Fairview Cemetery on November 7. Rev. Vance Mann officiated.
