Hypothermia may occur when a person is exposed to extremely cold temperature without adequate protection, but one may develop hypothermia after exposure to relatively mild cold temperatures in the range of 60 to 65 degrees F. Norma Jean Whorton of Flint Hill is currently working for KENW-TV on the campus of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales.
Ms. Whorton, a senior Radio/TV major, is a reporter for Science 3 News. She also works for KENWFM radio as a newscaster on weekends.
She completed a summer internship for the MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour in NewtYork City this year.
Ms. Whorton is a member of the Alpha Epsildft Rho Broadcast Fraternity and Cardinal Key.
A 1981 graduate of Rappahannock High School in Sperryville, she is the daughter of Mrs. Thurman F. Whorton of Flint Hill.
